MANURE BELT UNDER SLATTED FLOORS
For easy manure removal from under slatted floor VDL Jansen offers two types of manure belts. Regular removal of manure from the barn reduces the build-up of ammonia and fine dust and eliminates the need for a manure pit.
Difference Continuous Manure Belt and Single Manure Belt
The difference is that the Continuous Manure Belt is an (infinite) circular belt and the Single Manure Belt can be rolled up. Because the belt can be rolled up, the floor under the manure belt can be cleaned properly when the flock is out the poultry house. This is much easier than with a traditional manure belt and proper cleaning contributes to a better hygiene. With a Single Manure Belt a recess in the floor is needed at the end of the system to roll up the belt. After rolling up/un-rolling the manure, a winch can be used to return/unroll the manure belt to its original position.
NO MANURE PIT NECESSARY
Manure falls through the slats directly on the manure belt. As a result, a manure pit underneath the system is no longer necessary. Ammonia and fine dust are reduced to a minimum.
REDUCED SLAT HEIGHT
Because the manure belt is situated at floor level and needs little space to operate, the height of the slats is reduced. Due to this reduced height, it's easier for the hens to jump on the slats and go to the nests. This is an advantage especially for broiler breeders.
REDUCED BUILD-UP OF AMMONIA AND FINE DUST
As the manure can be easily turned off regularly, there is a reduced build-up of ammonia and fine dust. The belt can be placed over the full width under the slats.
